How long do i have to change a comment on a status update?

I made a comment but then 5 minutes later realised there was a slight mistake in it. I deleted the comment then reposted with the correct information. The wall of the person I commented on looks fine, but has he, or anyone else, seen the original comment? what do they see now, both the comments? Confused!
